Duke University A partner since 1985, The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University has been a part of the LEAD network for over two decades. Since its inception, the Fuqua school has hosted approximately 700 participants on the campus of Duke University. LEADers at The Fuqua School of Business navigate through an intense personal and academic experience – intended to inspire the drive and develop the skill sets necessary to succeed in business. Program participants have had the opportunity to personally engage representatives from Pulte Homes and Pfizer, facilitating up close sessions on their respective industries. Representatives from various corporations demonstrate how the basic principles of business are implemented in their corporations. The list of corporations supporting our program at Duke University include: Deloitte Consulting, John Deere, Cisco, IBM, Pfizer, Pulte Homes, Smith Breeden Associates and Wachovia Corporation. The 2009 SBI year at Duke welcomed new content which included the TEAM Box Business Simulation, a session on Ethical Leadership, a role play on proper dining etiquette,as well as campus presentations by UBS, Merrill Lynch/Bank of America, John Deere, and BB&T. During our site visits, we heard from the CEO’s of America’s leading business enterprises, Burt Bees and asset management firm, Smith Breeden. Another committed sponsor, Pulte Homes returned for a third consecutive year to present and facilitate an interactive session on the home building and sales industry. They awarded a cash prize to the LEAD team who presented the best home model. Keeping with our tradition, students participated in a full day of outdoor activities during the weekend such as the ropes team building training course, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, viewing a Triple A baseball game, and a festive cookout at the home of a Fuqua School of Business Faculty member. |
