CORNELL UNIVERSITY The Johnson School at Cornell University joined the LEAD family in 2002. Since its inception, the program has welcomed 148 high school students. The LEAD curriculum at the Johnson School is facilitated by a cadre of 36 Cornell University faculty and staff, as well as guest speakers from the business sector. The experience of program participants is shaped by some of the business sector’s “giants.” LEADers participate in a three-day trip to New York City to visit Credit Suisse, Ogilvy and Mather Advertising, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and the New York Stock Exchange. These future leaders of corporate America are also given the opportunity to apply their newly acquired business skills to the local market. During the 2007 Marketing Challenge at Cornell, students were divided into teams, conducted primary and secondary research of the local market, developed and produced three new ice cream flavors at the Cornell Dairy, and designed marketing plans for each flavor. Since 2002, 30 LEAD alumni have matriculated as undergraduates at Cornell University. An astonishing 14 students matriculated in 2004. The LEAD program at Cornell University is supported by the following corporations: Campbell Soup Company, Corning Incorporated, Credit Suisse, IBM, MTV Networks, New York Stock Exchange, Nike, Ogilvy and Mather Advertising, PepsiCo, PricewaterhouseCoopers, UBS, and Young and Rubicam. |
